Christopher Stuhrenberg Marshall Mentor Program Scholarship
Christopher Stuhrenberg was a Thurgood Marshall College senior actively enrolled in the Marshall Mentor Program. He transferred to UC San Diego from Saddleback College, majoring in Communications and planning to enter a career in journalism. He was active at UC San Diego as he pursued his career and passion.
TMC was deeply saddened by the passing of Christopher in January 2008. The Stuhrenberg family is offering a scholarship to one MMP student in the social science or humanities field that exemplifies excellence through pursuing passion and service.
This scholarship is open to all Marshall Mentor Program (MMP) students in the social sciences or humanities field with a minimum UCSD Grade Point Average of 2.8.

Thurgood Marshall College (TMC) is offering new transfer students the opportunity to connect with members of our faculty through participation in our Marshall Mentor Program. We value the importance of student interaction with faculty and encourage you to join the Marshall Mentor Program and enhance your college experience as scholars and citizens.
What is a TMC Faculty Mentor?
A TMC faculty mentor is a professor interested in establishing and maintaining connections with new TMC transfer students. Participating faculty have chosen to connect with a maximum of 5 transfer students as a guide and a resource throughout their undergraduate years.
What is a Mentee?
Mentees are newly enrolled transfer students interested in establishing and maintaining meaningful connections with TMC faculty members.
How does the Faculty & Transfer Mentorship program work?
- Students are matched with TMC faculty based on major, academic interests and other identified criteria. Criteria are used as best as possible to determine matches.
- Faculty mentors will work with a maximum of five newly enrolled TMC transfer students.
- Mentors and mentees will meet/interact with one another at least three times per quarter.
- All Marshall Mentor Program participants will be recognized at the end of the year celebration banquet.

Meet Your Faculty Mentor Lunch at the Faculty Club The TMC Provost Office will contact you in late October via email for your initial lunch meeting at the Faculty Club. You will meet with your mentor and the additional transfer students your mentor is working with.
