AASM – People

The African-American Studies Minor is housed in Thurgood Marshall College. The current Director of the program is Dr. Daniel Widener.

AASM has one full-time staff person, Program Coordinator, Summer Fuller, who works closely with the faculty director to plan events and activities that generate an interest in the minor.   She also provides academic advising for students interested in pursuing the minor.

In addition to our full-time staff person, the program receives advising support from TMC Academic Advisor, Stephanie Muldrow, from the Marshall College Advising Office. Stephanie also coordinates the UCSD Spelman/Morehouse Exchange Program.

The affiliated faculty support the program and teach the required minor courses come from a variety of disciplines, including: History, Literature, Ethnic Studies, Communications, Sociology, Music, Theatre & Dance, Urban Studies & Planning, Visual Arts, Political Science, and Anthropology.
