Financial Aid
The Financial Aid Office at UCSD offers a wide range of resources to help you learn about funding your education, as well as a list of scholarship sources. There are also two scholarships endowed specifically for Thurgood Marshall College students: the Rebecca Lytle Scholarship and the James Avery Scholarship.
The Rebecca Elizabeth Lytle Memorial Scholarship Fund For New First-Year Students
This scholarship fund was established in 1996 by family and friends to honor the memory of a truly remarkable citizen, friend, mother and wife. With an initial principal of $50,000, the interest from the endowment fund is to be used to support and encourage graduates of UCSD Preuss School (an on-campus charter school, grades 6-12) enrolled in Thurgood Marshall College at the University of California, San Diego. Administration of the Fund is the direct responsibility of the Provost of Thurgood Marshall College.
James Avery Scholarship
The James Avery Scholarship is awarded to an entering African-American student pursuing studies in the performing arts at Thurgood Marshall College. This is a four-year award up to $4,000 paid in the amount of up to $1,000 annually.
Thurgood Marshall College Scholarship
The TMC Scholarship Fund was created in 1993 to support Thurgood Marshall College sophomores, juniors and seniors in pursuing their educational and vocational goals. One award is given annually and disbursed $500 per quarter. Those who have made significant contributions as citizens and scholars, exemplify the ideals of the college, and who through their life experiences on and off campus have enhanced their own personal development, are encouraged to apply.
