Leadership Development

Going beyond involvement in student organizations are the various internship and student staff positions. Each opportunity utilizes a spectrum of personalities and is designed to develop valuable practical leadership skills.

Lift as You Climb Ambassadors reach out ot K-12 and community colleges promoting the TMC philosophy and college attendance by sharing their own path to college and TMC experience. Ambassadors receive training about TMC history, discuss social justice issues and develop public speaking skills.

Dean's Office Internship

The Dean’s Interns serve as a resource both to the students of TMC and to the staff of the Office of Student Affairs. Interns assist with the programming of activities and events including Welcome Week, Safe Space Dialogue Series, Edutainment Programs, TMC Scholarshoppe, Mentor program. Orientation Leaders (OL)

Orientation Leaders assist the Academic Advising and Student Affairs staff with Freshman, Transfer, and Family Orientation programs. During these programs OLs welcome new students and their families, answer questions, facilitate group discussions, and act as tour guides. OLs play a crucial role in promoting TMC philosophy while introducing student life at TMC. The OL position requires some summer and pre-fall quarter time commitments and is a paid position.

Resident Advisors (RA)

RAs develop residential communities within the Residence Halls and Apartments of TMC.  RAs help create a living-learning community which is respectful, fun, safe, and conducive for out of classroom learning. RAs possess and develop leadership, counseling, and confrontation management skills. RAs are compensated with Room & Board on the TMC campus.

Residential Life Interns

Three different internship opportunities are available through TMC Residential Life: Res Life Office Interns (Administrative), Community Outreach Intern (Programming), and Communications Intern (TMTV Operations and other media).
