Parents and Families
Partnering to Support Student Success
You, as parents, and we, as Marshall College staff, share the same goal: to see your student thrive, succeed, and graduate.
The information in this section is intended to help you empower your student to work through any challenges they may experience at UC San Diego.
Confidentiality
The Federal Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) protects students' educational records such as grades and tuition statements.
Under FERPA, staff are not allowed to share information regarding student’s grades, conduct records, or health records without the written consent of the student. The only exception is in the event of a health or safety emergency.
For additional information about FERPA, please visit the UC San Diego Parent & Family Programs website.
Preparing for Campus Life & Beyond
Each student comes to campus with different backgrounds, experiences and skills. Encourage your student to take advantage of these resources that can support and develop their abilities:

- Campus Safety Resouces & Emergency Contacts
- Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) for Parents & Families
- Life Skills (e.g. conflict resolution, cooking, personal budgeting, laundry, etc.), created by Revelle College
- Student Academic Success
- Career Services
