Dear Marshall Students,

In honor of Veteran’s Day (this week Wednesday; don’t go to class!), I want to thank the Marshall College Veterans for your service and sacrifice. I have had the pleasure of working closely with several student Veterans over the years, and I am consistently so impressed with your dedication and maturity, and how you bring what you have learned in your service into your leadership here at UC San Diego. Our Marshall staff want to share our thanks with this online card for our student Veterans!

I also want to acknowledge that we are at the beginning of Native American Heritage Month. I encourage all of our students to participate in the many events that are planned, and to keep in mind, as always, that our university sits on unceded lands of the Kumeyaay Nation.

Finally, I wanted to let you all know that TRELS scholarship applications are open for Winter Quarter, and the deadline has been extended to this Thursday, November 12. The Colleges are still supporting experiential learning, broadly defined, and we still have a special category of special scholarships for students studying the Black Experience. I am proud to say that Marshall College awarded three TRELS-BE scholarships for Fall Quarter, and I hope we can do that (or more) again for Winter!

Enjoy your week 6, and have a great break on Wednesday!

Best,
Provost Carver
