Hi, everyone,
Last week, the campus hosted a week-long series of symposia on Enhancing the Black Student Experience. I was fortunate to be able to serve on the planning committee for that initiative, and it was a fantastic opportunity to think about actions that all of us as a community could take to improve the experience of our Black students. Students did not hold back in being honest about their experiences, and attendees worked hard to come away with specific actions they could take. During the week, I reflected on the foundation of Marshall College (as I have been doing all year, because of our Anniversary), and one of the things I committed to doing is celebrating Black and LatinX excellence, in keeping with our founding principles. One way to do that is to celebrate the achievements of our Black and LatinX students. So, to start this, I would like to use this opportunity to celebrate Kennedy Cofield. |
