Hi, everyone! Somehow it is Week 8! We have made it almost to the end of this crazy year! Congratulations to everyone; this has been a real challenge and although I know many of you have had to deal with some big issues, you’ve come through pretty well, and I know you are making use of the resources the College has to help you (if you are still working through things, please make sure to contact me or one of our fabulous Deans for help!). Many folks are probably wondering about what next year will look like. I am hoping things will be very close to normal! Campus is making plans for a gradual return over the summer, and from what it looks like right now, the majority of classes will be in person again! It will be such a relief to be back on campus, and I am really hoping we can do a lot of things to celebrate you and build community when we get back.

In keeping with my commitment to celebrating LatinX and Black Excellence, I want to tell you about Dalia Gonzalez Mejia. Dalia is a second-year Marshall transfer student and is a three times TRELS Scholar. Dalia’s research seeks to understand the factors that lead educational disparities for women in STEM. Educational disparities are a big problem in higher education, and I believe Dalia’s research will have a major impact. Dalia is a second-year Transfer student, and she plans on attending Medical School and becoming a physician after she graduates. Congratulations on your accomplishments, Dalia!

Virtual Library Study Room   Tuesday thru Thursdays | 7 - 9 pm (PST) For those that miss studying in your favorite areas of the Library, we invite you to the Library's Virtual Study Rooms via Zoom! These 2-hour study sessions are open study spaces and will be broken up by short breaks, following the Pomodoro Technique. Bring any course work or projects you want to focus on during this time. There will be a timer onscreen to indicate the start and end of breaks. Library staff will be playing lo-fi music during the session. We have cool new backgrounds this quarter!   Learn More
