Commuter Student Life at Marshall

Commuter students are welcomed at Marshall! We are extremely excited for you all to join the TMC Family. We have a lot of resources and educational opportunities that we want to share with you to enrich your student experience. Below, you will find key resources and educational opportunities available for commuter students. Commuter students are eligible to participate in all UC San Diego and Marshall involvement opportunities. The specific opportunities below are specifically designed for Marshall commuter students.

Commuting to Campus

Take the Bus

All current undergraduate and graduate students who have paid quarterly registration fees are eligible for U-Pass. A U-Pass provides unlimited rides on all regional MTS and NCTD mass transit bus and trolley/light rail routes during academic quarters.

Check out the U-Pass website for instructions on how to download and access your bus pass.

Find a Carpool:

Log into the UCSD Carpool and Vanpool page and see if there is somebody driving to and from the same neighborhood as you! You save money and with the UCSD Carpool Incentive program, you get a complimentary 10-day permit each quarter if you ride with 3 or more people total! Your carpool’s car will also be able to receive a carpool designating sticker that will let your carpool park in special carpool only parking spots.

Find more information about carpooling on the UC San Diego Transportation Services website.

A.S. Safe Rides with Lyft

Lyft deals on pause. Check website below for latest updates on the deals.

UC San Diego Associated Students have teamed up with Lyft to provide safe rides home for students. Students can unlock a limited amount of free or discounted rides per quarter. Offers vary. Students can contact Associated Students or visit UC San Diego Safe Rides at the start of each quarter for program details.

Please see the A.S. Safe Rides website for full details.
